About the School
West London School of Dance (WLSDance) was founded in 1986 by Anna du Boisson. The purpose of the school is to teach different forms of dance and to provide students with the opportunity to perform in professionally staged productions. We offer classes for boys and girls aged 2-16 years, and scholarships are available.
Anna du Boisson trained at Rambert Ballet School, going on to dance as a soloist for fifteen years in major ballet companies. She has been teaching internationally for over twenty years and is a former Rehearsal Director of Ballet Rambert.
The philosophy of Anna and her teachers is to inspire in their pupils a love of music, movement, and freedom of expression through dance. The skills gained through encouragement and discipline in the classroom can be applied to all aspects of their lives beyond the classroom, and students are actively taught to find both inner strength and the will to achieve their best in any situation. The classes are highly professional, all accompanied by pianists and taught by qualified staff. Unlike other ballet schools in London, the school does not follow an exam syllabus to measure progress; instead, it offers its students the challenge and thrill of performance. The school works with children with a wide range of abilities, including some who have behavioural or learning difficulties.
From September 2024, the school will be starting RAD classes, this will be an extra class for students to attend along side the non syllabus classes.
